INTRODUCTION
This chapter will look at the Background to the Study, Statement
of the Problem, research questions and other sub-topics below.
1.1 Background to the Study
This
research study examines the impact of effective Stewardship
on the Church moral life (A case study of Ondo District of Assemblies of God,
Nigeria). The term
Stewardship is as older than Christianity itself—dating back to the creation of
the world in the book of Genesis. God is the source of all things and God gives
His creation to human beings, who are made in His image and likeness. We are
not made to be passive recipients, merely accepting and consuming God’s gifts.
To take these gifts for granted is an extreme misinterpretation of our role in
a relationship with a loving Father. We are made, however, to be like God and
share the gifts of His creation, just as God shares. Stewardship can be seen
as; office, duties, and obligations of a steward; the conducting, supervising,
or managing of something; especially; the careful and responsible management of
something entrusted to one’s care... The Bible says that someone who is faithful
with a little thing will be faithful with much (Luke 16:9-11).
The Bible use of the word
“stewardship” is much the same as the dictionary definition. Stewardship as it
is used in the Bible means “managing the assets that are in one’s care”.(
Luke 16:2)...

the Problem.
Effective stewardship and the church
moral life is
lacking in our churches today, the love of the church has wax cool toward effective
stewardship. Moral standard of the church has deteriorate drastically. The
place of effective stewardship on the church moral life is nothing to write

the things of God and his kingdom...
