THE EFFECTS OF THE LIFESTLYE OF THE YOUTH TO CHURCH GROWTH

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1       Background to the Study

Youths are the engine room of any societies. They are the drivers of any developmental trend and activity in the society and a major determinants of the extent of growth and development in the society. Youths are usually very energetic and are always willing to go the extra mile if need be to achieve what they believe in and hold on to. But when these tools are neglected by the church, it will results to catastrophe and disasters.

The youths have a major role in the church which can only be possible through proper channeling of their attention to the development of the church. Which can be possible through adequate and consistent youth’s empowerment in the church. The church must demonstrate to  them  that  a  discipleship  and  love  culture  is  embraced  in  the  church.[1]

A church cannot retain her youths that is not carried along or are neglected. The youths in our churches have been deprived of sense of belonging in the church. Their participation in the programme of the church could help the church grow and spread the gospel faster.  Youth empowerment  will  assist  in  preventing  the  youths  from  premarital  sexual behavior,  drug  abuse  and  anti-social  behavior  which  are  rated  high  risk  behaviors.  This  way,  the  level  of responsibility  and  pro-social  behaviours  among  the  youths  will  be  encouraged and their fellow youths will be encourage to follow them to the  church  hence  promoting  growth of the church. When the church empowers the youth, it will make them to be a responsible adult.

The aim of the youth ministry among others is to establish an empowerment program that will bring about the growth of the youths. The church leader have a role to be flexible and adjust to the ever changing needs of youths through updating and matching the youth energy and vitality while avoiding old models of neglecting the youth....

IMPLICATIONS OF DISUNITY FOR THE BODY OF CHRIST (THESIS)

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1          Background to the Study

This study examined the Implications of Disunity for the Body of Christ: A Case Study of Some Selected Churches in Ekpoma. “The Body of Christ” is to indicate identity, oneness, and unity in Christ. When people believe in Jesus’ death for the sins of the world and in His resurrection, they are joined to Christ in his death and resurrection.

In the church, there is no longer any distinction between Jew or Gentile, male or female, slave or free, because all are united equally in Christ to form his Body, the church. Unity in Christ is important in Scripture because the Lord wants all believers to live in harmony with each other and to be “like-minded”. A body with unified members, working together, will be productive and bear fruit for Christ.

The Body of Christ is not a building or specific denomination like Cherubim and Seraphim, Catholic Church and Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Church), but rather is comprised of believers of all time since Pentecost. The body needs many parts—many gifts, talents, and skills to function. Believers need to work together to accomplish the mission Jesus gave them. Rather than trying to re-invent another mission thereby causing disunity in the body of Christ...

1.2       Statement of the Problem.

The unity of the church is the greatest problem of the devil. As the church grows, Satan will do everything he can to cause division. Even a highly placed people and believers, can be used as a tool by Satan to hurt the body of Christ. The body of Christ’s job is to protect one another from Satan’s greatest weapon called disunity. The greatest problems in churches in Ekpoma is the breakdown of church unity.

Disunity is destructive and have a devastating effects on the body of Christ, if not curtail and nip to the bud. Disunity in the body of Christ is insidious, debilitating, and destructive. And bring shame, reproach, disgrace, sin, separation, hatred, anger, frustration, death among others...

The research study was predominantly library, internet and field investigations. This research was conducted to achieve the goals and objective of this research.

1.7       Delimitation of the Study
