1.2       Statement of the Problem    

Pastoral family lifestyle is one of the keys to success in the ministry of the church. Capable and skilful leaders will create an atmosphere of excitement, give directions to move forward, and develop people to grow into maturity. Only when pastors understand leadership in the light of God’s calling on their lives will they be equipped to lead effectively. 1.3       Purpose of the Study

This study examined the Effects of Pastor’s Family Lifestyle on Church Growth: A case study of Assemblies of God Church, Owan District.  Who is a pastor, whether pastors’ family lifestyle have any significant impact on church growth, the impact does pastors’ family lifestyle have on the general well-being of a church and the relationship between preachers’ family lifestyle and church growth.

 1.5      Significance of the Study

The greatest challenge facing the church is that of growth. Congregational growth is not automatic. It is affected by a complex set of factors, not all of which can be controlled by the church. This study is to be of great benefit to Assemblies of God Church, Owan District and all Pentecostal Churches. It is intended to find ways of ensuring that the lifestyle of pastors brings about growth and development in the Church.

1.6       Research Procedure

The researcher employed library and field investigations.  Data was collected through questionnaire and oral interviews that was distributed to respondents in Assemblies of God Church Owan District for the purpose of gathering information through prepared questions and examined for true representation. The research study was predominantly library, internet and field investigations. This research was conducted to achieve the goals and objective of this research study.

1.7       Delimitation of the Study

The scope of this study is on the Effects of the Pastor’s Family Lifestyle on Church Growth: A Case Study of Assemblies of God Church, Owan District. Owan District covers two Local Government Areas in Edo North Senatorial District of Edo state. Namely, Owan East and Owan West Local Government Areas. The District which was carved from Afenmai District has about 42 Pastors with about 2250 members.

1.8       Definition of Terms

Pastor: A minister in charge of a Christian church or congregation.

Family: A basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.

Lifestyle:  A set of attitudes, habits, or possessions associated with a particular person or group.

Church: A Christian house of worship, a building where religious   services takes place.

Growth: An increase in size and number.
