INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background to the study
This study dealt with the Roles of Leadership in An Ideal Church: A Case Study of Assemblies of God Church, Iuleah Section. Church Leadership is viewed as a process that includes influencing the task objectives and strategies of a group or organization, influencing people in an organization to implement the strategies and achieve the objectives, influencing group maintenance and identification, and influencing the culture of the organization. It is a process of motivating people to work together collaboratively to accomplish great things. Church Leadership is the lifting of a man’s vision to higher sights, the raising of a man’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a man’s personality beyond its normal limitations. A leader is best when people barely know that he exists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worst when they despise him...
1.2 Statement of
the Problem.
Leadership is a serious responsibility that calls
for utmost dedication, discipline, commitment and sacrifice among others. It
will become a frustrated exercise in operation with a visionless leadership in
the church. Challenges of leadership in the church encompass a lot of areas
which includes; challenges of not able to preach the word, lack of the presence
of God, biblical illiteracy, lack of leadership training, lack of vision and
capacity to carry people along...
1.3 Purpose
of the Study
This study examined the Roles
of Leadership in An Ideal Church: A Case Study of Assemblies of God Church, Iuleah
Section. Specifically, It include the concept of
Christian leadership, pastor as a spiritual leader, characteristics of
Christian leadership, methods of Christian leadership, challenges of Christian leadership
in the Church and the impact of Christian leadership on the Church.

1.5 Significance of the Study
The
study is of immense benefit to ministers, theologians, members of the church
and researchers. This study will equip the ministers with the necessary
leadership traits for an effective leadership in the church. It will prompt
theologians to have a working and practical knowledge of church leadership and
how they operate in the church. Members of the church will expose them to know how
Christian leadership are operate and how they can fit in. this study will serve
as a resource material to researchers in developing further studies.
1.6 Research Procedure
This study
employed library and field investigations.
Data was collected through questionnaire and oral interviews that was
distributed to respondents in Assemblies of God Church, Iuleah
Section for the purpose of gathering information
through prepared questions and examined for true representation. The research
study was predominantly library, internet and field investigations. This
research was conducted to achieve the goals and objective of this research
study; which are to find out the causes and the solutions to or how to deal
with unforgiving spirit.
1.7 Delimitation of the Study
The scope of this study is on the Roles of Leadership in An
Ideal Church: A Case Study of Assemblies of God Church, Iuleah Section
is situated in Uzebba, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State under
Assemblies of God Nigeria Owan District. It has membership of about 450
members.
1.8 Definition of Terms.
Roles:
Is
an active part played in an activities or operations. It is also the manner
through which things are followed all done.
Leadership:
Is an act of leading and influencing others who willingly follows their
instructions on what needs to be done, how to do it, and the process seeing it
accomplished.
Church:
Is the body of Christ that is gathered together to reverence, pray and worship
God among others.
Ideal Church:
Is this context, is a church that is characterized by reboots and effective
leadership trait that is capable of leading a church to all round advancement
and growth.
